Beijing and Washington are expected to agree on a three-month extension of their tariff truce during the trade negotiations that began on Monday the 28th in Stockholm, according to the South China Morning Post, citing sources familiar with the matter.
During the 90-day extension, both countries will commit to refraining from imposing new tariffs or taking actions that could escalate the trade war. While previous discussions in Geneva and London had focused on preventing further escalation, in this latest meeting the Chinese delegation will also press Donald Trump’s trade team over tariffs linked to fentanyl, the sources said.
This third round of negotiations between the U.S. and China aims to address long-standing economic disputes at the core of the trade war between the two powers.
